Biography

Amy Tardo

Lead Vocals, Back-up Vocals
Atlanta, GA

For the past year, you might have noticed the vivacious brunette bouncing around center stage and belting out songs. If you haven’t noticed, you might want to look down! Our newest female vocalist, Amy Tardo might be five- feet-nothing, but she has the voice and energy of someone much bigger!

Amy, a lifetime lover of music, made her first appearance in the Atlanta music scene in the early 90’s as a fan/quasi-groupie. (In other words, she dated musicians who could sneak her into venues so that she could enjoy rock shows!) At 21, Amy decided it was much more fun (and decidedly cheaper) to be a musician rather than date them. She joined forces with the talented Scott Humphries and Dr. David Atkinson to form an acoustic trio. For six years, off and on, the group played in many metro Atlanta bars and venues, performing David’s original works and covering songs by a multitude of others, including Amy’s main musical influences – Indigo Girls, Stevie Nicks, Alanis Morisette, and Melissa Etheridge, just to name a few.

In 2001, Amy attended the “original” Open Mic Atlanta venue at the Old Peculiar Pub in Norcross, It was there that she met T. Collie and Doug Walters of The Commitaphobics. After a few “guest” appearances with the band in 2002, Amy fell out of the music scene in a misguided attempt to try the domestic life. In late 2004, she reemerged – more spirited than ever, and more than ready to rock and roll. The Commitaphobics were more than happy to welcome her in.

Amy brings her spunky attitude and her fun loving spirit to every show. She believes that every gig should be fun, every song should have energy, and that every one should dance! (That way, she doesn’t look quite as goofy up there bouncing around!)

Band Joke: Female Lead Vocalists

Amy doesn't like jokes about herself.
